Which Web Content & Adult Filtering on DNS Level ….

If we search the market we find OpenDNS, Quad9, Comodo, CleanBrowsing & others also, all works on the DNS level.
The aim of these products to provide a Secure DNS by protecting the uses from the Bad Web Contents, Malicious & Phishing Websites, and Adult Contents, they are available in the market and some offer a free account.
Mainly are used @ schools and homes networks to protect the children from (accidental) accessing bad contents or getting trapped by malicious or phishing websites.

They do a good job by blocking accessing the bad websites if the user is targeting the website directly and trying to visit that website.

But, this is not enough .. we can't ignore the fact that these bad contents can be viewed or maybe accessed in the search engines specially in the Images results, and to block them the client browses need to be configured to Filter them in addition a knowledgeable user/child can change the Safe Mode in the browser and that's it, I forgot to mention the disaster (YouTube) it is another nightmare for the parents.

All the above DNS products/companies fails in some point in provide an excellent or acceptable level of protection - I'm talking about the free versions & the easy & quick way for non-technical parents - because in Enterprises the story somehow is different.

I've tested most of these products & have used OpenDns for years but again nothing satisfied me!, because non of them has the ability to force and control the Safe Filter option in the browsers leaving a non controlled area – this as far as I know and based on my tests for free versions.

Only one product which has a very nice behavior CleanBrowsing, this one beside blocking the bad contents it has a control over the web browsers by automatically forcing the Safe Filters and prevent it from being disabled at the browser level, which has excellent effect on the texts and the images search results in the browsers, in addition it does the same on YouTube.

To have this secure DNS effects, it requires only changing the DNS settings in the Internet Router instead of doing the changes on each device (PC, Notebook or iPhone, etc).

It is worth mentioning, that in Cellular Networks, changing the DNS is not possible which leaves this backdoor open !
